  • Art of America, Utah and the West
The UMFA’s American galleries have a fresh new look! Visit our second floor to see a completely revamped installation of art from our permanent collection. Take notice of the luscious periwinkle blue that coats the walls, and don’t miss a brand new space dedicated to the art of Utah and the West. The installation includes selected works by noted artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Mahonri M. Young, Minerva Teichert, Edgar Payne, Frederic Remington and others.
  • Africa: Arts of a Continent
Explore themes of the spirit world and afterlife in this ambitious exhibition of African art objects. In Africa: Arts of a Continent, you will learn about the spiritual and political power of Central African masks, the magic and mystery of ancestral African sculptures, and the concepts of beauty and spirituality as seen in African objects of daily use. An exhibition highlight is the debut of one of the UMFA’s newest acquisitions, a late XXVIth Dynasty Egyptian sarcophagus.
