    The Sri Rupa Raghunatha Ashram Presents: A lively class on Ayurveda (The Science of Life) and how it relates to Bhakti Yoga by: Sripad BV Bhagavat Swami followed by a lively Kirtan (Ecstatic devotional singing and dancing.)

    Bhagavat Swami holds degrees from the Florida Vedic College in Bhakti Yoga (the Yoga of Love and Devotion), Ayurveda (Vedic Naturopathic Healing), and Jyotish (Vedic Astrology). He is well versed in, and has lectured around the world on, the esoteric teachings of the Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-Gita, and numerous other sacred Vedic texts. In 2008, Bhagavat Swami accepted the formal order of Sannyasa from His Divine Grace Bhakti Vedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja, head of the International Gaudiya Vedanta Society, and was conferred with the title of Swami. Following the ageless traditions of the Vedas, he has accepted a vow of detachment from material life and fully dedicated himself to compassionately uplifting the bleak condition of human society. Bhagavat Swami is an acclaimed speaker and has been praised for his unique ability to weave the complex philosophical truths of the Vedas with simple modern examples, thus creating an easily accessible and comprehensible subject matter for listeners of all backgrounds and experiences.

    The UMFA’s American galleries have a fresh new look! Visit our second floor to see a completely revamped installation of art from our permanent collection. Take notice of the luscious periwinkle blue that coats the walls, and don’t miss a brand new space dedicated to the art of Utah and the West. The installation includes selected works by noted artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Mahonri M. Young, Minerva Teichert, Edgar Payne, Frederic Remington and others.

    Explore themes of the spirit world and afterlife in this ambitious exhibition of African art objects. In Africa: Arts of a Continent, you will learn about the spiritual and political power of Central African masks, the magic and mystery of ancestral African sculptures, and the concepts of beauty and spirituality as seen in African objects of daily use. An exhibition highlight is the debut of one of the UMFA’s newest acquisitions, a late XXVIth Dynasty Egyptian sarcophagus.
